Important Clarification
செப்டம்பர்17, 2009 at 2:34 மாலை | In ENGLISH | Leave a CommentThe Sri Lankan government, instead of facing the evidence of the video clip incriminating its Armed forces and taking action to find the guilty, has started an action against the Journalists for Democracy in Sri Lanka (JDS) – to shoot the messenger rather – than examine the evidence. And, now the Sri Lankan government and its various fellow travellers have gone one step further and launched a venomous vilification campaign against other
people and organisations that are not party to actions of the JDS.
Because of real danger caused by the continuous stream of articles in the Sinhala press in Sri Lanka to individuals in the INSD (International Network of Sri Lankan Diaspora) we want to clarify that the JDS, on its formation, had requested the INSD to allow us to temporarily use their Berlin mailing address as a ‘care of’ address for our post – until we secured our own facilities. This they kindly allowed. There is no other relationship between the two organizations.

Detention of Sevarasa Pathmanathan (KP) In Sri Lanka
We Tamil Diaspora in Switzerland profoundly shocked and dismayed by the arrest of Sevarasa Pathmanathan (KP) in Malaysia and his hand over to the Sri Lankan authorities where he faces torture and execution.
In the past silence of international community during the annihilation of thousands of Tamil people in Tamil homeland encouraged Sri Lankan government to continue their military onslaught that resulted in tragic death of tens of thousands of Tamil civilians with callous disregard for human rights and humanitarian laws. Today more than 300,000 people are languishing in Sri Lankan death camps behind barbed wires. Access to these camps for humanitarian and UN agencies is highly restricted Worldwide call for an Continue reading An Urgent Appeal to the International Community and Human rights Organizations…

His Excellency Mahinda Rajapaksa,

A good number had lost their parents, most of whom lost their lives in the battle front, not as combatants but as innocent civilians caught up in the cross fire and some others got buried alive in the bunkers, many died of starvation and children without milk food. They are still searching for their kith and kin.
President of Sri Lanka,

Your Excellency,
THE PATHETIC PLIGHT OF THE IDPs.
In utter despair I am writing this appeal to you to convince you that your intervention at this stage is indispensable, if the country is to maintain its dignity and honour. The country’s credibility lies in your decision to order the immediate release of certain categories of IDPs and to follow it up soon by re-viewing the problem of the remaining IDPs. At present, they are virtually kept under compulsion without any justification, giving them the feeling that they are kept in an open prison with too many restrictions and not in a welfare centre. Hence your announcement tomorrow, a POYADAY, will be very crucial and will grant relief to the entire Buddhist World.

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) shelled Puthukkudiyiruppu (PTK) hospital Sunday night killing nine civilians, including patients and their family members in the ward. More than 15 civilians were injured. The indiscriminate attack on the hospital has caused panic and tension among the hundreds of wounded civilians at the hospital. The shelling has come despite repeated calls from the medical authorities not to fire shells on the civilian medical facility and within a few hours of a public statement from the ICRC, which said it was shocked by the shelling on hospital twice in recent days.
